CrossCheck Nigeria

CrossCheck Nigeria builds on learnings from previous First Draft collaborative initiatives, including Comprova in Brazil and the award-winning CrossCheck in France, applying the same standards and processes that require participating newsrooms to review and agree each others’ work in order to publish a report.

The project brings together 16 newsrooms that will work together in the lead up to the elections. They will have a relationships working alongside one another to share knowledge, skills and ideas. The workflow has been designed deliberately to encourage collaborative investigation beyond the election.

The project is to help give Nigerian voters the best information pertaining to the February 2019 election and to clarify or dispel rumors that circulate online. The public can ask questions through the project WhatsApp number and learn about the confusing information they see and report online.
